Engineer Notes

Draft
  • Floor footprint: 4.0 m × 3.5 m. Structure sits on concrete slab — footing design TBC with engineer.
  • Fixed wall section runs along the full 4.0 m wall and wraps a short distance along the 3.5 m wall, forming an internal corner. Fixed wall max height: 3.5 m.
  • Fixed wall interior (climbing face) is thick structural ply, divided into three angled sections along the 4.0 m back wall: a 40° overhang cave section (approx. 1.3 m wide) at the corner; a 15° moderate overhang section (approx. 1.5 m); and a 5° slight lean section (approx. 1.2 m) at the far end.
  • The 40° cave angle continues into the side wall section (approx. 1.5 m along Z), creating a full corner cave where the two 40° panels meet. This is the most demanding section and framing must be engineered accordingly.
  • Adjustable panel completes the remainder of the 3.5 m wall length. It pivots from −5° (slight overhang, past vertical) to 60° from vertical (strong overhang). Panel height: 4.0 m — exceeds 3.5 m fixed wall height.
  • Adjustable panel requires a robust pivoting mechanism at base (heavy-duty hinge / pivot pin) and a locking system capable of holding the panel securely at any set angle under dynamic climbing loads.
  • External cladding: corrugated Colorbond steel in Monument finish to roof and external walls. Provide adequate drainage fall on roof.
  • All framing, connection hardware, and ply thickness to be specified by structural engineer. Loads per AS 1657 / relevant climbing wall standards.
  • Ventilation and access door locations not yet specified — to be resolved in next design iteration.
